I recently read Arun Anand's debut novel Love in Metro. It was relatively a short novel, which you could complete it in a single sit. Apparently, this short novel took me a month to complete. I'm not sure if the pause I took in between triggered the issue, but it wasn’t an ideal experience.
The story started with the climax and delved into the past. Pankaj, an aspiring journalist from Delhi, and Nisha, a young woman from Chandigarh striving to establish herself in the bustling capital. Their paths cross repeatedly within the confines of the Delhi Metro, setting the stage for a relationship that navigates the complexities of urban life and personal aspirations.
Arun Anand, the author, a seasoned journalist by himself draws inspiration from Delhi Metro's diversity and obscurity. The references of the city were well-crafted. The story was well narrated and the flow was smooth. However, While reading the book, there were few flaws throughout the text, including occasional spelling mistakes and confusion between similar words. These small issues made it a bit challenging to fully immerse myself in the story along with the long duration and pauses I took to complete this book. Despite this, the overall plot and character development were decent. I believe with a bit more attention to detail, the reading experience could have been even more enjoyable. Nonetheless, it was not a bad read with moments that captured my attention.
Once I finished this book, the first thing I did was check if Bollywood had made a film adaptation of it. Apparently not, which made me wonder how they missed this opportunity, mainly how did they miss this? Maybe I’m being too stereotypical about Bollywood? Possibly. I could definitely picture this as a movie, full of romance and cringe-worthy dialogues sprinkled throughout.
Now that I’ve wrapped up Love in Metro, I’m diving into a super exciting book. I’ve never been this thrilled about a read before—just three pages in, and it’s already amazing! I can’t wait to share my thoughts on it in a blog soon.
With love
